If 265 generous people give $265 our Gawura students can go on the Indigenous Homelands Immersion program in Cape York.
Give our students memories that will last a lifetime.
In July 2020, students will fly, many for the first time, to North Queensland to participate in the Indigenous Homelands Immersion program in Cape York with Red Earth. We will visit three different Homelands and will be hosted by Indigenous families where they will learn culture in a Nation very different to those they are used to visiting in NSW.
Students will also get to help in a remote Indigenous community on a service project and will get to share their own experiences of living in a busy city and attending school in an office building. They will meet Elders and Traditional Owners (TO’s) of the local Lands Council and leave we hope with a very different perspective on life.
Our On Country Tours takes place in a different Nation each year and this year will travel to Yuin Nation, on the NSW South Coast. In 2018 students travelled to Wiradjuri Nation.
“We know that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children thrive in environments where they a have strong connection to culture and community.” Minister Ken Wyatt. August 2019
