Volunteers Needed to Help Secondary School Students

Can you help?

Are you an expert in Maths, English, Science, Spanish or French?

Do you have an hour each week to help our secondary Gawura students?

When our students leave Gawura they take up a scholarship in the St Andrew’s Cathedral School. Part of their scholarship gives students access to our Gawura Homework Club. It’s a chance for students to come together, check in with our Aboriginal Education Mentor and receive assistance with their homework, organisation and class preparation.

Students have skills and needs that vary and would benefit from tutoring each week in the subject areas they find difficult. We are looking for an expert, tertiary educated person or someone with the kind of knowledge that would benefit years 7 to 9 students in:

  • Maths
  • English
  • Science
  • Spanish
  • French

The details:

  • Preferably this would be a weekly commitment of 45mins to 1hr once a week per subject.
  • If you can tutor this would be for one subject only.
  • The age group will be grade 7 – 11 at varying levels of ability.
  • This could be a job share position (alternate weeks with another volunteer to tutor the one student).

The Sessions can be on:

Monday           3:20 – 4:30

Tuesday          3:20 – 4:00

Thursday         3:20 – 4:30
