Delicious Donations!

25 August, 2020

Gawura is happy to provide emergency breakfasts and lunches for any student and in 2020 we have had more students need this special assistance. Just at the right time, Woolworths at Town Hall, our local supermarket, has stepped up.  Aunty Cheryl has been working at Woolies for over 10 years and has seen so many Gawura students come and go from the store with friends and family. Aunty Cheryl made contact with our school and was keen to help.

Aunty Cheryl and the Store Manager Jason Yau, who is a former St Andrew’s Cathedral School student, have very kindly arranged for a weekly delivery of breakfast supplies and fruit for students – we can’t thank them enough,

As well as this, we now also have boxes of food essentials going out each week to Gawura families. These are generously donated every week to Gawura families from the Fruit Box Group.

Our very kind supporters at the GO Foundation, who help with Indigenous scholarships in high school connected us with this company. The GO Foundation was set up by ex Sydney Swans Indigenous players, Michael O’Loughlin and Adam Goodes.

And the generosity doesn’t stop there – we are thrilled to have 25 volunteers from our corporate supporters and the SACS community who are giving up their time to take these out to Gawura families.

Thank you all so much!
