On behalf of all the Gawura staff and children we’d like to say a Gawura huge thank you to everybody who was involved in our annual fundraiser – Mandaang Guwu.

Last week we held a cocktail party and consider ourselves very fortunate not only for all of the support that we received but also that we were able to go ahead before all large gatherings were shut down.

Our sympathies and best wishes go out to all the other schools and charities who may miss out on essential funds because they are unable to hold events.

We owe a very special thank you to Macquarie Group for hosting the function for Gawura and donating the venue, food and beverages and staff hours. We are so grateful to the Chair of the Macquarie Group, Peter Warne, (who is also the Chair of the Gawura Foundation) for making this happen.

We raised a wonderful amount – $60,000 for our Gawura students because of the generosity of everyone there who donated and bid on our live and silent auction items.

A very special thank you to our amazing string instrument group who performed to the excited audience.

Congratulations to Talaara, Tilly, Ellie and Kallarah for entertaining the audience with their fine musicianship. This was a wonderful example of what our Gawura School provides for budding music-minded students through the generosity of donors.

We had prizes for the night donated by Qantas, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Still Space Architecture, the GWS Giants and merchandise signed by the Cast of School of Rock.
