This month some of our students were lucky enough to visit Sydney-based artist Jasper Knight at his studio as well as going to see his latest exhibition.

Jasper spoke to students about his life and how lucky he is to be doing what he loves as a full time career. He also explained that it takes more than passion to make it work. It’s still a hard slog and involves many long days and late nights to get his commissions and creative pieces done.

The children were definitely inspired and were delighted to have the opportunity to paint in a real artist’s studio and then have Jasper critique their work as well.

Jasper has been a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize 6 times and you can find his paintings hanging in the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the New South Wales Government office in Sydney and the Australian Consulate in Singapore.
